head canons
- hyejun has a slight fear of cats due to a series of small incidents when he was younger, where he would constantly be "attacked" by a cat thanks to their ability to blend in with furniture and carpets. yet somehow, he finds them cute (though he won't admit it).
- at his family home, he owns a tank of moon jellyfish that he regretfully hadn't been able to bring with him to university since they'd require too much time and maintenance. his family still takes care of the tank and occasionally send him updates.
- hyejun isn't fond of labels and doesn't believe in horoscopes, but he's happy to know that his zodiac sign is represented by a fish symbol.
- he goes out for a swim every night religiously and easily loses track of time.
- because he's out so late, he tends to sleep in. he's definitely not a morning person and is difficult to wake up in the mornings. most of his classes tend to be in the afternoon anyway.

- while hyejun's mother, hyemi, had been pregnant with him, the shin family spent a lot of time by the seaside. she found it calming, like the sea was always calling to her, as she would say.
- according to hyejun's father, his mother would walk along the shoreline while singing her favorite lullabies.
- hyejun's early childhood consisted of a lot of beach visits. the young hyejun loved the beach to the point of wanting to go every vacation he had. his family of course, humored him, since they loved watching how excited hyejun would get whenever they took him.
- hyejun's family consisted of two doting parents and two older brothers (one that loved to tease him and the other that would always side with him).
- his brothers have an age gap of 7 and 12 years from hyejun.
- with his love of the sea, hyejun decided on studying marine biology once he started university. his whole family was well aware of hyejun's passion and were not surprised by his rather obvious choice.
